IPL 2022, GT vs SRH: In-form teams Gujarat Titans, Sunrisers Hyderabad gear up for clash

Mumbai: The 40th match of the IPL 2022 will see table toppers Gujarat Titans and second-placed Sunrisers Hyderabad squaring off at the Wankhede stadium on Wednesday.

The teams will meet for the second time in this ongoing season. During their first-ever encounter, Gujarat went down against Hyderabad. That defeat is the only loss that Gujarat have faced in their seven matches so far.

Hardik Pandya's side would be aiming to come on par in their head-to-head record against Kane Williamson-led Hyderabad.

Hyderabad started their 2022 campaign with two back-to-back defeats. However, they not only bounced back in their third match but went onto register five consecutive wins since then.

Williamson's side would look to maintain their winning ways and extend their record against Gujarat.

The pitch at Wankhede has always been good for batting. The even bounce on the track and shorter boundaries makes it a paradise for batters.

Although the likes of Hardik and David Miller are in form, the major concern for the side is their openers, including Shubhman Gill who hasn't scored much since his 96 against Punjab Kings on April 8. If Gujarat are to post big total, they would need massive contribution from Gill at the top of the order.

Gujarat's bowling department is one of the best in this season, with Mohammed Shami, Lockie Ferguson and Rashid Khan leading the way for the team.

Hyderabad's bowling unit is no less than Gujarat. The trio of T Natarajan, Marco Jansen and Bhuvneshwar Kumar make for a threatening attack. In their latest match, the bowlers ripped through Royal Challengers Bangalore.

All of Hyderabad's batters consisting Abhishek Sharma, Williamson, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran have stood up in different games which makes their batting intimidating.
