IPL 2022, KKR vs MI: Wish to maintain victory run: Shreyas Iyer

IPL 2022, KKR vs MI: Wish to maintain victory run: Shreyas Iyer

Mumbai: Kolkata Knight Riders Skipper Shreyas Iyer said he is not satisfied with the 52 run win against Mumbai Indians that kept his team's playoff chances alive, and wanted to maintain the victory run.

"The win was comprehensive, and when I spoke to the players, they were pumped up to win the game today. I am not satisfied totally, but want to maintain this," he said at the post-match presentation ceremony here.

Iyer said he is very pleased with the win against MI because after losing the last game by a big margin, it felt good to come back and win by a big margin. The team had a nice start in the powerplay and Venkatesh Iyer targeted bowlers well, despite the fact that he did not feel that it was an easy start for new batsman, he said.

"When we went into the bowl, the plan was to hit the right areas and not give room," he said. On making five changes for today's game, Iyer said, "It is really difficult. Coach and at times, CEO is also obviously involved in team selections. Each and every player takes it well, and they have put in their best efforts."

Meanwhile, Venkatesh Iyer said it was a good comeback for him after getting dropped. "It is my job to go out there and give my team a good start. My intent is always positive and aggressive, sometimes it comes off, sometimes it doesn't. With the middle order we have it's important to have a good start, so that other batsmen can come in and contribute," he said.

"It feels good when the team wins. It's important to contribute, with the bat, or ball or in the field. Fielding is very important for me and so is bowling. Unfortunately I didn't get a lot of overs, but whatever overs I get, I ensure I do the job that the captain wants me to do," Venkatesh stated. (UNI)
