Kolkata: The Delhi Capitals are gearing up for an intense showdown against the Kolkata Knight Riders as they seek to extend their winning streak in the IPL 2024 at the iconic Eden Gardens here on Monday.

With the memories of their earlier defeat still fresh, the DC are determined to settle the score with KKR, who emerged victorious in their previous encounter at Visakhapatnam earlier this month.

Currently positioned fifth in the IPL 2024 points table with 10 points from 10 matches, the DC are eager to solidify their standing with another triumph.

Bolstered by four wins in their last five matches, the DC are riding a wave of confidence following their thrilling victory over the Mumbai Indians in the previous encounter. Despite a tense battle, they emerged triumphant with a narrow 10-run margin at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Leading the charge in DC's batting lineup is the explosive Jake Fraser-McGurk, whose stellar performances have been a revelation in IPL 2024.

With a staggering strike rate of 237.50, the highest among batsmen facing a minimum of 100 balls this season, Fraser-McGurk has amassed 247 runs at an impressive average of 49.40, including three half-centuries in five matches. His aggressive starts in the powerplay have laid a solid foundation for the team's success, allowing skipper Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs to capitalise on the momentum.

Speaking of Stubbs, his remarkable innings in the death overs against Mumbai Indians played a pivotal role in securing victory for DC. His unbeaten knock of 48 runs off just 25 balls, at an astonishing strike rate of 192.00, propelled the team to a formidable total.

Captain Rishabh Pant continues to lead by example, showcasing his batting prowess and adept wicketkeeping skills.

With 371 runs from 10 matches at an average of 46.37 and a blistering strike rate of 160.60, Pant remains the team's leading run-scorer in IPL 2024. His aggressive approach with the bat has posed a significant challenge for opposition bowlers, while his sharp glovework has resulted in 14 dismissals behind the stumps.

In the bowling department, Rasikh Salam and Khaleel Ahmed have been instrumental for DC. Salam's three-wicket haul against Mumbai Indians proved crucial in a high-scoring encounter, while Ahmed's ability to strike early in the powerplay has kept opponents on the back foot.

On the other hand, KKR's success hinges largely on the performance of its formidable batting lineup.

Phil Salt and Sunil Narine, the crack-opening pair, will spearhead KKR's early assault, aiming to set a solid foundation for the innings. However, the onus will also be on key batsmen such as captain Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, and Ramandeep Singh to consolidate the middle order and ensure stability.

While KKR's batting prowess has been a cornerstone of their performance thus far, the bowling department poses a challenge that requires attention.

While Narine has showcased impressive form with the ball, he will need support from other bowlers to bolster KKR's bowling attack. Harshit Rana, Andre Russell, and Varun Chakravarthy are expected to play crucial roles in providing the necessary firepower.

The potential return of Mitchell Starc, who has recovered well from injury, could further bolster KKR's bowling arsenal and provide an added advantage.

As the stage is set for a high-stakes encounter against DC, KKR will look to strike a balance between their batting firepower and bowling strength to secure a vital win and strengthen their position in the IPL 2024 points table.
