Hyderabad: In a riveting showdown at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad clinched a nail-biting victory, edging out Rajasthan Royals by a mere one run in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) held here on Thursday.

The contest, brimming with fervour and suspense, witnessed Hyderabad's triumph fueled by stellar performances from Nitish Kumar Reddy and Travis Head. Their remarkable half-centuries, with Reddy anchoring an unbeaten 76 and Head contributing 58 runs, formed the bedrock of Hyderabad's formidable total of 202 runs.

Facing the daunting chase, Rajasthan encountered early setbacks as they lost the key wickets of Jos Buttler and skipper Sanju Samson without troubling the scorers, setting the tone for a challenging pursuit.

Nevertheless, Rajasthan staged a spirited fightback led by Yashasvi Jaiswal and Riyan Parag. The duo not only steadied the innings but also accelerated the run rate, with Jaiswal blasting a dynamic 67 off 40 deliveries and Parag anchoring a resilient 77 from 49 balls.

Despite their valiant efforts, Rajasthan Royals fell agonizingly short of the target, losing crucial wickets in the dying moments of the innings. The dismissals of Shimron Hetmyer, Dhruv Jurel, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Rovman Powell to Hyderabad's disciplined bowling attack left Rajasthan rueing their missed opportunity.

Ultimately, Rajasthan managed a total of 200 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their allotted 20 overs, falling short of Hyderabad's tally by a solitary run.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar emerged as the linchpin of Hyderabad's bowling attack, clinching three pivotal wickets to derail Rajasthan's chase. Pat Cummins and Thangarasu Natarajan provided crucial support, picking up two wickets each to contain Rajasthan's scoring.

With this hard-earned victory, Hyderabad solidified their position in the IPL standings, while Rajasthan Royals were left to ponder their missed chance. The enthralling clash between the two sides epitomized the unpredictable nature of T20 cricket, keeping spectators on the edge of their seats until the final ball.

Earlier, Hyderabad faced early setbacks in their innings, but Nitish and Head emerged as the heroes of the day, forging a resilient 96-run partnership for the third wicket. Heinrich Klaasen's blistering cameo of 42 runs from 19 balls provided the finishing touches to Hyderabad's innings, propelling them to a commanding total.

Despite the early dismissals of Abhishek Sharma and Anmolpreet Singh, Hyderabad managed to post an imposing total of 201/3 in their allotted 20 overs, setting the stage for a captivating encounter.

Rajasthan's bowling effort, spearheaded by Avesh Khan's two-wicket haul, aimed to stem the Hyderabad onslaught. However, Sandeep Sharma's lone dismissal failed to halt Hyderabad's charge, as they set a challenging target for Rajasthan to chase.
