Wellington: The Women's T20 World Cup champions will head to India for a three-match ODI series just days after their title triumph in UAE.

The squads have been named for the bilateral series with all-but two players set to play the ICC Women's Championship games.

Pacer Rosemary Mair and off-spinner Leigh Kasperek are the only omissions from the squad that won the Women's T20 World Cup with the former rested to manage her workloads.

Lauren Down has also been included in the 15-player squad, after making her return to international cricket in July following a maternity break.

The series will serve as crucial preparation for the White Ferns as they head to India next year for the Cricket World Cup.

Wicketkeeper-batter Polly Inglis also earned her maiden call-up to the squad.

Head coach Ben Sawyer sees the tour as a great opportunity to prepare for the next ICC event after a successful campaign ended just a day ago.

“Alongside trying to win the series, the tour will serve as important preparation for next year’s ODI World Cup in India," Sawyer said.

“It’s been an amazing 24 hours for this group becoming T20 World Cup champions. We’re relishing the win but when we get to India we’ll need to refocus and set our sights on the next challenge,” he said.

New Zealand ODI squad: Sophie Devine (c), Suzie Bates, Eden Carson, Lauren Down, Izzy Gaze, Maddy Green, Brooke Halliday, Polly Inglis, Fran Jonas, Jess Kerr, Melie Kerr, Molly Penfold, Georgia Plimmer, Hannah Rowe, Lea Tahuhu.

Fixtures:

1st ODI – Thursday 24 October – Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
2nd ODI – Sunday 27 October - Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
3rd ODI – Tuesday 29 October - Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad
