Rawalpindi: Zimbabwe suffered a loss in the first ODI against Pakistan on Friday despite Brendon Taylor's (112) century. Pakistan won the match by 26 runs to make it 1-0 in the three-match series.
Pakistan made a strong score of 281 for eight in 50 overs with superb half-centuries from Imam-ul-Haq (58) and Haris Sohail (71). Lower-order batsman Imad Wasim contributed an unbeaten 34 runs. Blessing Muzarabani and Tendai Chisoro took two wickets each for Zimbabwe.
Chasing the target, the Zimbabwean team was reduced to 255 runs in 49.4 overs despite Taylor's 112-run off 117 balls which included 11 fours & 3 sixes and Wesley Madhevere's 55. For Pakistan, Shaheen Afridi took five wickets for 49 runs and Wahab Riaz took four wickets for 41 runs.
Taylor received the Player of the Match award.
