Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that former Australian pacer Jason Gillespie will step in as the head coach for the Pakistan men’s cricket team for their upcoming white-ball tour of Australia.

This development follows the resignation of Gary Kirsten, which the PCB confirmed has been accepted.

In an official statement on Monday, the PCB expressed its appreciation for Kirsten’s contributions to the team, acknowledging his efforts and dedication during his tenure.

Kirsten’s sudden resignation has prompted a swift reorganisation of the team’s coaching structure as they prepare to face Australia on their home turf.

Gillespie, the renowned Australian fast bowler, has been holding a consultancy role with the PCB, focusing on developing the team's bowling unit and mentoring emerging pacers. His initial involvement centered around providing specialist coaching to Pakistan's fast-bowling department, an area of critical importance given the team’s legacy of producing world-class fast bowlers.

Gillespie also served in various mentorship roles beyond Pakistan, including stints with Sri Lanka's fast-bowling unit and a consultancy role with the Australia men’s team. His extensive international experience as a player brought credibility, and his methodical training regimen attracted positive feedback from players who credited him with developing their tactical acumen.
