Mumbai: Former India batting great Sachin Tendulkar talked about a special right, the 'Right to Play' in his Republic Day greetings to the citizens on Wednesday.

The master blaster posted a video on Twitter, and spoke about the Indian Constitution that came into effect on January 26, 1950. He emphasised on 'Right to Play' to urge people not to just watch sports but to take part in them as well.

"Warm wishes to all of you on the occasion of Republic Day. On this day in 1950 India adopted our Constitution. Laws, Rights, Ordinances there are many aspects in our Constitution because of which our nation is surging ahead strongly," said Sachin.

"But today I want to talk about a different right 'Right to Play'. In the UN convention of 'Rights of the Child' this has been discussed, and India too has accepted it."

"If you see it is such a fun right to have, UN also understands that playing has an important role in our growth and health of children. The same thought is behind Sports Playing Nation."

"Don't just watch sports but play them too. Because playing sport isn't just good for the health of children but beneficial for everyone. So keeping in mind the Covid regulations of the government, whenever you get a chance do play a sport," he added. (UNI)
