Galle: Sri Lanka opener Pathum Nissanka has tested positive for Covid-19 midway through the second Test against Australia, country's cricket board said on Monday.
"Nissanka has tested positive for Covid-19. He was found to be positive during an Antigen test conducted on Sunday morning, following the player complaining of feeling unwell," Cricket Sri Lanka said in a statement.
A PCR test carried out later in the day confirmed the result. Nissanaka was immediately isolated in a different hotel upon identification and will undergo Covid-19 Protocols, the board said.
Oshada Fernando will join the playing XI as a replacement.
This was fifth Covid case in Sri Lanka camp after all-rounder Dhananjaya de Silva, pacer Asitha Fernando, spin duo Jeffrey Vandersay and Praveen Jayawickrama tested positive for the virus. (UNI)
