Sourav Ganguly turns 49, Simple ceremony is on card owing to Pandemic

Kolkata: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, the Maharaja of Indian cricket, turned 49 on Thursday through the yearly celebration at his ancestral home at Behala to be a low key affair owing to the current pandemic situation in this metropolis.

" There is no celebration for Covid-19 this time. During the current situation, there is no celebration of birthdays. I will stay at home. I will spend the whole day with the family," said Dada.

Sourav Chandidas Ganguly, or Sourav Gangopadhyay affectionately known as Dada, an Indian cricket administrator, commentator, quiz master in a talk show and former national cricket team captain, was born on this day in this city in 1972.

The players who played under Bengal tiger took to twitter and wished their beloved captain. Harbhajan Singh wrote Happy birthday my Captain Hugging face @SGanguly99Love Always.

Mohammad Kaif who led India to the famous chase in the Natwest Final tweeted, "When Dada led you on to the field, you somehow felt taller. Happy Birthday to the captain who patted your back when you did well and put a hand around your shoulder when you didn’t." Yuvi shared a tweet but not before wishing Dada with a tweet "Happy birthday dadi ! Wishing you great health and happiness god bless you @SGanguly99".
