Bengaluru: With Asia Cup just around the corner India cricket team suffered a huge blow with reports saying Head Coach Rahul Dravid has tested positive for Covid-19 and is unlikely to travel with the team for the continental tournament.
However, the official confirmation from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is awaited on Dravid's Covid-positive status.
According to the reports, VVS Laxman, current National Cricket Academy (NCA) chief - who is currently in Zimbabwe - could be asked to join the team if Dravid does not recover in time.
Dravid was rested ahead of the Asia Cup with Laxman assuming duties of the head coach on the just concluded tour of Zimbabwe.
The Asia Cup will start from August 27 in the UAE and India kick-start her campaign against arch rival Pakistan on August 28.
