Tokyo: India's Sumit Antil clinched the gold medal in the men's javelin throw (F64) event at the ongoing Tokyo Paralympics, here on Monday.
With the best throw of 68.85 m in the final, Sumit set a new world record and bagged the silver.
Antil's silver took India's medal count at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics to seven - their best-ever haul at a single Paralympics.
India had won four medals at the Rio 2016 Games, their previous best.
Another Indian in the final - Sandeep Chaudhary, finished fourth in the competition with a personal best of 62.20m.
Australia's Michael Burian bagged silver while Sri Lanka's Dulan Kodithuwakku took home bronze. (UNI)
