U-19 Asia Cup: Son of a bus conductor, Atharva Ankolekar 5/28 helps India lift title for 7th time

Colombo: Atharva Ankolekar 5/28 helped India beat Bangladesh by 5 runs in a thrilling contest in the finals of the U-19 Asia Cup lifting the title for the seventh time.

Earlier, India won the toss and opted to bat, but were bundled out for 106 runs in 32.4 overs. In reply Bangladesh chasing target of 107 runs were all out for 101 runs in 33 overs.

For India, Ankolekar 5/28 figures, Akash Singh 12/3, Vidyadhar Patil 25/1 and Sushant Mishra 27/1 were the wicket-takers helping India clinch the title for seventh time.

Mumbai’s Atharva Ankolekar is raised by a single mother who is a BEST bus conductor.
