Kampala: Uganda's under-19 cricket team on Wednesday set off for India where it will camp for 15 days ahead of the International Cricket Council U19 World Cup qualifier in Windhoek, Namibia in April.

Head coach Steve Tikolo told Xinhua on Wednesday before departure that this trip comes at the right time because the players will also be exposed to other coaches and good facilities.

Martin Ondeko, the Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Cricket Association, said that the tour will help the team get exposure and experience at a much higher level than their age bracket.

He said Swetal Desai, Uganda's hosts in India, will allow another six players to remain in India for a further 15 days to undergo training by Indian coaches.

The other teams that will take part in the U19 World Cup qualifiers include Kenya, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and hosts Namibia.

The winner will advance for 2020 ICC U-19 World Cup in South Africa. (UNI)
