“Want her name to continue on with Hamilton name”: Lewis Hamilton to change name to incorporate mother's surname

London: Seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton wants to change his name by adding mother's surname.

The 37-year-old Briton, whose full name is Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton, said that he plans to include 'Larbalestier' as a middle name.

"I am really proud of my family's name. My mum's name is Larbalestier and I'm just about to put that in my name," Hamilton said as reported by BBC. "I really want her name to continue on with the Hamilton name."

Hamilton's father Anthony and mother Carmen divorced when he was a child.

"I don't really fully understand the whole idea when people get married then the woman loses her name," he added.

Hamilton also said that he is "working on" the name change procedure but it will not be official for the upcoming Bahrain Grand Prix on March 20. (UNI)
