Bengaluru: Team India's gesture towards Suranga Lakmal won a million hearts by congratulating him as he faded into retirement.

As he was heading towards the dressing room after Jasprit Bumrah had knocked him over, the Indian Vice Captain ran to Lakmal to congratulate Lakmal, who played his last Test match here at Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hanuma Vihari, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel among others shook hands with Lakmal.

Lakmal played 70 Tests, 86 ODIs and 11 T20Is for Sri Lanka, in which he bagged 171, 109 and 8 wickets respectively.

Earlier, India defeated Sri Lanka by 238 runs and completed a 2-0 whitewash. (UNI)
