Dubai: Pakistan’s promising all-rounder Fatima Sana will be departing Dubai on the next available flight to Karachi following the passing of her father on Thursday.

In a heartfelt statement, Mohsin Naqvi, Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), conveyed his deep grief and sorrow over the loss, extending condolences to Sana and her family during this challenging time.

The players and management of the Pakistan women’s cricket team have also rallied around Sana, offering their unwavering support and sympathies as she navigates this difficult period.

At just 22 years old, Sana is not only the captain of the Pakistan team in the ongoing ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 but also the youngest captain in the tournament. Her leadership has been exemplary, setting a positive tone for her team throughout the competition.

In Pakistan’s opening match against Sri Lanka, Sana delivered a standout performance, earning the Player of the Match accolade with a remarkable contribution of 43 runs and four wickets across two matches.

The cricket community stands united in support of Fatima Sana as she balances her responsibilities as a captain with the personal loss she is facing.
