After blue drum, it’s brown suitcase: Woman kills husband with lover, stuffs body in trolley bag in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria

In a chilling incident reminiscent of the recent Meerut blue drum murder, a man returning from Saudi Arabia was brutally killed by his wife and her lover in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district. The body was stuffed inside a suitcase and dumped nearly 50 kilometers away in a wheat field.

The victim, identified as Naushad (28), a resident of Bhatauli village under Mail police station, had returned to India just a week ago after working in Saudi Arabia. According to police officials, his murder was orchestrated by his wife and her lover, who also happens to be her nephew.

The grim discovery was made on Sunday afternoon when locals of Pakri Chhapar Patkhauli village, under the Tarkulwa police station limits, spotted a suspicious suitcase abandoned in a field. Upon opening it, authorities found a body with documents that helped identify the deceased as Naushad.

During interrogation, the victim’s wife reportedly confessed to the crime. She told police that after Naushad returned from abroad, he began interfering in her illicit relationship, which led her and her lover to plot his murder. The duo allegedly killed Naushad with a sharp weapon on Saturday night, placed his body in a suitcase, and disposed of it far from their home to mislead the investigation.

SP Vikrant Veer, along other senior officials, visited the crime scene. While the woman is currently in custody, her lover is on the run. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend him.

Speaking to the media, SP Veer said, “Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was motivated by an illicit relationship. The victim’s wife and her lover carried out the crime in a premeditated manner. We are making all efforts to arrest the absconding accused soon.”

The case has sparked outrage and concern, especially due to its similarity with the Meerut blue drum murder, where an NRI husband was also killed upon returning home.

The investigation is ongoing.
