Few days after sharing Goddess Tamil photo, Responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's Hindi remark, Oscar winner music director A.R. Rahman has said that Tamil is the connecting language.

When asked for his reaction to Amit Shah's recent remarks that Hindi should be used as a communication language between states, Rahman, who was about to leave after participating in the CII-DAKSHIN South India Media and Entertainment Summit, said "Tamil is the connecting language" as he got into the car.

Earlier, the music director had tweeted a photo of a woman holding a staff with the Tamil letter ‘lazha’ on it. The poster, titled ‘Thamizhanangu’, also had lines from a poem by revolutionary poet Bharathidasan. The line, "Inba Thamizh Engal Urimai Sempayirukku Vaer" (Delightful Tamil is the root of the staple crop of our rights).

Rahman’s this post was seen as an answer to Amit Shah’s remark.

The Home Minister's remarks have not gone down well with people in the southern states of the country. Several people including writers, actors, directors, and film celebrities have spoken up against Hindi's imposition.
