In a first-of-its-kind surgery, the doctors removed a 20 gram tumor from the parrot's neck in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.
Around 20 years ago, Chandrabhan Vishwakarma, a resident of Muktiyar Ganj in Satna, brought home a parrot. The family gave it name ‘Betu’. About six months ago, a lump appeared behind the parrot's neck. This lump started growing slowly from the back of the parrot's neck to below the right eye. Due to the tumor, the parrot was neither able to talk nor eat food.
Chandrabhan took the parrot to the animal hospital in Satna. The team of Dr. Brihaspati Bharti and Dr. Balendra Singh examined the parrot. The examination revealed that the total weight of the parrot is 98 grams, while it has a tumor of 20 grams. The team of doctors removed the tumor after about two hours of surgery. The tumor now has been sent to Rewa Animal Hospital for further examination.
