In a gruesome incident, a woman was raped and tortured viciously for a month in Madhya Pradesh’s Guna by her neighbor, who demanded that she marry him and transfer her parental property into his name, the police has said.

The two were in a relationship for some time, police said.

The 23-year-old victim told the police that she lives with her mother in a village on the outskirts of Guna. Ayan Pathan forcibly took her to his residence a month ago, when her mother was away in Shivpuri. She was locked in a room and was not allowed to leave or talk to anyone. She was raped several times, beaten with belt and water pipe. Ayan also applied chilli powder to her wounds and sealed her lips with glue to prevent her from screaming.

On Tuesday night, after enduring another episode of torture, she somehow managed to escape and walked 5 kilometres through the night to reach the Cantonment police station in the morning.

The police were shocked to see her condition. Her lips were sealed with glue, her eyes were swollen, and there were bruises all over her body.

Police stated that the accused was arrested while illegally supplying liquor on Wednesday night. He has been booked under the Indian Penal Code’s Sections 376 (rape), 294 (obscene language), and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), as well as under the Excise Act, adding, they could add additional charges after further investigation.

An illegally built house of Ayan Pathan was demolished by officials on Sunday.

Officials found that Ayan's house was built on government land using forged documents, after which it was demolished.
