A video outside the Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, Maharashtra is going viral on the social media. It is alleged that a Muslim woman was denied free food distributed to patients and their relatives outside the Cancer Hospital because she refused to chant "Jai Shri Ram."
According to reports, the food was being distributed by an NGO near the Cancer Hospital.
In the viral video, a hijab-clad woman can be seen standing in the queue for free food. The man distributing the food can be heard saying, "Jisko Ram nahin bolna hai line me khada nahi ho" (Those who won't say Ram should not stand in queue). He repeatedly asks her to leave the queue. When she responded that she isn't standing on his father's property, he said "Laat marunga" (I'll kick you).
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with netizens criticising the distributor's behavior towards the Muslim woman.
One user said: "If that man truly understood Hinduism, he would never have committed this heinous act. Rejecting food and water is one of the greatest sins in Hinduism."
Another user commented: "Very bad. Manava seva = madhava seva, which means that serving humanity (manava seva) is the same as serving God (madhava seva)."
Another user wrote: "Then what kind of helping is this God wont be happy with this kind of charity."
After the video went viral, Bhoiwada police is investigating the matter. A non-cognizable offence has been registered against the man distributing food and he has been sent a notice.
