After failing PSC exams in several attempts, a wannabe civil servant took to burglary. Recently, he sneaked into a couple's home in Chhattisgarh's Durg, but instead of stealing anything, and he recorded their intimate moment in the phone and blackmailed them.

28-year-old Vinay Kumar Sahu had used a stolen phone to shoot the video and WhatsApp it to the couple and tried to extort Rs 10 lakh from the couple.

In the probe, it was found that Sahu had tried to bag a government job and attempted the PSC exam several times but failed every time. He then decided for a career change and started stealing mobile phones from his locality.

He sneaked into the couple’s home last Friday and was looking for something to steal when he caught the couple in their intimate moment. He took a video on a phone he had stolen earlier.

The next morning, the couple was stunned when their video popped up on WhatsApp on one of their phones from an unknown number. It was followed by a call to cough up Rs 10 lakh.

The couple filed a police complaint, mentioning the number from where the video was sent and extortion call was made.

The Durg police constituted a special team and they nabbed the accused on Wednesday. Police seized three mobile SIM cards and handsets from him and deleted the video.
