New Delhi: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought a report from the Telangana government regarding a video where female police officials were seen dragging a protesting student by her hair in the Ranga Reddy district.

In a notice issued to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police in Telangana, the NHRC requested a detailed report within four weeks. The report should include information on the actions taken and the health status of the victim girl, it said.

The NHRC has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report on a video clip showing lady police officials dragging a protesting student by her hair in the Ranga Reddy district of the state during an agitation by some students of Professor Jayanshankar Telangana State Agricultural University (PJTSAU) on January 24.
