In a tragic incident, a four-year-old boy died after a toffee got stuck in his throat in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The incident took place on November 3 in Barra Jarauli Phase-1, within the jurisdiction of the Barra Police Station.

As per reports, the child was eating Frootola candy, a sticky eye-shaped toffee, when it got stuck in his throat.

In an attempt to help, his mother gave him water, which caused the candy to slip further down his throat, making it even harder for the kid to breathe.

The family immediately rushed him to a nearby hospital, but the doctors were unable to remove the toffee.

They took him to 3-4 different hospitals, but none were able to provide the necessary treatment. The family reported that many doctors were unavailable due to festival time. Tragically, the child choked to death after struggling for nearly three hours.

The shopkeeper from whom the child purchased the candy has reportedly closed his shop and fled. The police have launched a search operation to apprehend him.

The grieving family has called for action against the manufacturer of the toffee.
