Tripura: Man and his paramour tied to electrical pole, assaulted over extramarital affair, video goes viral

Agartala: The South Tripura district police launched an investigation into a specific complaint where a young lady endured a horrifying ordeal reminiscent of mediaeval brutality at the hands of villagers at Munda Basti of Ishan Chandra Nagar in Belonia on Saturday, police said here on Sunday.

According to the report, the harrowing event was believed to have been triggered by an extramarital affair between a married man and a young, unmarried woman.

The accused man and woman were caught in an isolated place in the village and tied to an electric pole before the family members of the victims reached the spot.

Allegedly, the woman’s family demanded a huge sum of money from the man to settle the dispute and end the relationship, but he didn’t agree. Then, in front of the family members of both sides, villagers resorted to violent action against them, which went viral on social media.

Based on the statements of the victims, police registered a case and launched an investigation, but nobody has been arrested yet, they stated. (UNI)
