Mandya: A man was allegedly tied to a flagpole and beaten by locals in G Bommanahalli village of Nagamangala taluk in Karnataka’s Mandya district over a money-related dispute, police said.

The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared on social media, shows the man, identified as Nagesh, bound hand and foot to a pole while several villagers surround him. Some are seen slapping him, while others attempt to intervene. One person is seen offering him water during the ordeal.

According to preliminary reports, Nagesh had allegedly threatened another villager, Chaluvesh, with a knife over a financial matter, leading to a heated altercation. In retaliation, Chaluvesh and a group of locals reportedly tied Nagesh to the pole and assaulted him.

Mandya police confirmed that a complaint has been lodged by Nagesh’s wife.

"We have registered a case based on the complaint and an investigation is underway," a senior police official told UNI.

Officials added that legal action will be taken against all individuals involved in the assault and that no one will be allowed to take the law into their own hands.
