Srinagar: A groom was taken to his bride's home in a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) bulletproof bunker in south Kashmir's Tral area on Tuesday after he got stuck at his home due to the snowfall.

Mukthar Ahmed Poswal, a resident of Baran Pathri area of Tral Pulwama, marriage was fixed for Tuesday and as per the programme he had to reach the groom's house at Gutroo village, some 20 kms away, but due to snowfall he could leave his home.

Worried groom kept waiting for several hours at home with the hope that the weather would improve. But the snow didn't stop.

Finally, worried Poswal called the local CRPF unit at Mandoora and informed them that his wedding was scheduled today and he is not able to travel because of the snowfall and need their help.

"I called my officer and informed about the distress call. After the nod, I took our two vehicles and proceeded to the village which is nearly 10 kms from our camp," Assistant Commandant of 180 battalion CRPF, Ram Kumar Jaat told UNI.

He said the road was slippery and with wheel chains they proceeded ahead.

"I called the groom and told him to get ready and reach Nagbal where we will pick him," the CRPF officer said.

Dressed in full wedding attire, the stranded groom reached Nagbal village on a horseback along with at least six baratis. The groom readily hurried up and got inside the armored vehicle of CRPF.

The video of the groom has gone viral on the Internet.

"The CRPF men took pictures with the groom before proceeding to the destination. After an hour, finally we reached the groom's village and we were welcomed by the locals,” Jaat said. The bride was all praise for the CRPF.

"After the snowfall, I was afraid that my wedding would not take place today, but after my call to CRPF helped me and played a key role in fulfilling my lifelong dream," Poswal said.

As if it was not enough, CRPF troops again came in to the village to take the couple back home.
