A video of former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi at a nightclub in Nepal's Kathmandu with a friend has gone viral on social media platforms.

Reports say Rahul Gandhi is in Kathmandu to attend a friend’s wedding. He will be attending the wedding of former CNN correspondent Sumnima Udas, who is the daughter of former Nepali ambassador to Myanmar, a local report said.

Rahul Gandhi was apparently in the viral video at a Lord of Rings, a nightclub. However, there is no independent authentication of the contents of the viral video.

Sharing the video, many BJP leaders have lambasted Congress leader.

BJP leader Amit Malaviya shared the video with a caption: “Rahul Gandhi was at a nightclub when Mumbai was under seize. He is at a nightclub at a time when his party is exploding. He is consistent. Interestingly, soon after the Congress refused to outsource their presidency, hit jobs have begun on their Prime Ministerial candidate...”

Union law minister Kiren Rijiju wrote: "Regular Parties, Vacations, Holidays, Pleasure Trips, Private Foreign Visits etc are nothing new to the nation now. As a private citizen there's no issue at all but when an MP, a permanent boss of a national political party who keeps preaching others....."

BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla wrote: "Rajasthan is burning, Baba is partying. Party (INC) khatm ho jayegi Par party yu hi chalegi! Yeh party yu hi chalegi ..
Part(y) Time Neta !!"

Netizens are also claiming that he was partying with Hou Yanqi, the Chinese ambassador to Nepal, who was earlier accused of honey-trapping former Nepal PM KP Oli.

Soon after this, Congress replied and said that Rahul Gandhi went to Nepal to attend a friend’s wedding ceremony. It’s not a crime to participate in family events. Rahul did not go to Pakistan as an uninvited guest like PM Modi.
