The tick-borne haemorrhagic fever, usually contracted by monkeys, is caused by Kyasanur Forest disease virus

Humans contract the virus either through direct contact with infected ticks or with the sick or deceased monkeys

It's noteworthy that person-to-person transmission does not occur

Initial symptoms include chills, fever, headache, severe muscle pain, vomiting, and bleeding problems

Patients may also experience neurological complications like drowsiness, disorientation, confusion, and loss of consciousness

Currently, there is no treatment for monkey fever. Vaccination and avoiding tick bites plays a pivotal role in prevention

People should wear protective clothing in tick-infested areas, and avoid contact with potentially infected animals
