COVID fourth wave scare: India records 3,324 cases in last 24 hrs

New Delhi: India registered 3,324 new covid-19 cases taking the total tally to 4,30,79,188 in the country, as per the Health Ministry data on Sunday.

As many as 40 fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, taking the total death count in the country to 5,23,843.

The active cases stand at 19,092, which now comprises 0.04 per cent of the total infections, while the national Covid-19 recovery rate has decreased to 98.74 per cent.

Meanwhile, 2,876 recoveries were reported in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries of 4,25,36,253.

Meanwhile, Delhi on Saturday reported 1,520 fresh Covid-19 cases and one related fatality, while the positivity rate stood at 5.10 per cent, according to data shared by the health department.

The cumulative number of infections in the city now stands at 18,83,075.

On the vaccination front, the government has been continuously speeding up the vaccination drive across the country.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry, 83.79 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far. In the last 24 hours, a total of 4,71,087 tests have been conducted.

“India has administered 189.17 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive,” Ministry data said.

More than 193.28 crore more vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far.

Over 19.18 crore balance and unutilised Covid vaccine doses are still available with the states/UTs to be administered, the ministry added. (UNI)
