Ghazipur (UP): Engine of Swatantrata Senani Express going from Jaynagar Bihar to New Delhi failed after it collided with a wooden block placed on the railway track in Ghazipur district, police sources said here on Tuesday.
Police sources said that the incident took place around 3:00 am when the train reached near Alam Patti area between Ghazipur Ghat station and Ghazipur City Station.
"The driver saw a big piece of log between the railway track, after which he applied emergency brakes, but the train stopped after going about 400 meters, dragging it along with the wood. When the driver got down and looked, it was a big piece of wood more than 2 feet long," they said.
Police sources said that the driver informed the Railway Track Inspector and RPF as well as Ghazipur City Station Administration about it.
"Immediately the entire railway department reached the spot and after that when the driver checked to move the train forward, it was found that the hose pipe of the engine was cut. Due to which there was a problem in moving the train forward. After that, another engine was called from Audhihar and the train left for a further journey after about two hours," they said.
Police sources said that a complaint has been lodged in Sadar Kotwali by JE Nishant Kumar Singh of Railway Track Inspector Department of Ghazipur City.
