New Delhi: As many as three Indian Coast Guard (ICG) crew members were missing after their helicopter that was deployed for a rescue mission made an emergency hard landing in the Arabian Sea, a statement said on Tuesday.
According to the ICG, the incident took place off Porbandar in Gujarat on Monday around 11 pm.
One of the crew members has been recovered, and search is on for the remaining three crew members. The ICG has deployed four ships and two aircraft for the rescue operation.
Taking to its social media handle X, the ICG said, “On 02 Sep 2024, an Indian Coast Guard ALH helicopter was launched at 2300 hrs to evacuate an injured crew member from the Motor Tanker Hari Leela off Porbandar, Gujarat.”
“The helicopter had to make an emergency hard landing and ditched into the sea. One crew member recovered, search for the remaining three crew members is in progress. ICG has deployed four ships and two aircraft for rescue efforts,” it added.
