FIR against youth for posting derogatory remarks against Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde

Mumbai: Thane police in a neighbouring city have registered an FIR against a 26-year-old youth for posting alleged derogatory remarks against Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on a social media post, an official said on Monday.

According to Thane city, Sri Nagar police officials accused Hitesh Dhende, a resident of Varli Pada in Thane city, in a social media post, of using derogatory remarks against the deputy CM.

Based on the complaint, the police had registered the case against the youth under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita sections 133 (assault or criminal force with intent to dishonour a person, otherwise than on grave provocation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace), 351(1) (criminal intimidation), and 356 (2) (defamation), the official said.
