New Delhi: Delhi was lashed with a monsoon shower after a long gap bringing respite from days of sultry & humid weather. The incessant downpour spelled trouble for traffic in the national capital, as many prominent roads and intersections were waterlogged.
The residents woke up to a rainy morning which started in the early hours of Saturday, bringing down the temperature to 27 degrees Celsius.
According to Meteorological experts , thunderstorms with moderate to heavy intensity rain are very likely to continue over many parts of Delhi and adjoining areas scattered during the whole day.
The weather forecasting agency has also predicted light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers till August 23 in the national capital.
The Delhi Traffic Police have notified people not to take the Azad Market Underpass because it is closed due to 1.5 feet of waterlogging. Traffic movement was closed on both carriageways of Minto Bridge due to waterlogging.
Traffic crawled in Connaught Place as roads turned into rivulets. At Pragati Maidan, vehicles were seen wading through several inches of waterlogging.
The heavy rains affected vehicular movement at ITO, Moolchand Underpass, Lajpat Nagar and Jangpura. Waterlogging caused traffic snarls at Mehrauli-Badarpur road and ITO-Pragati Maidan road.(UNI)
