Hyderabad: Brain dead woman delivers healthy baby girl, husband donates her organs

Hyderabad: A 27-year-old brain dead woman, injured in a recent road accident, has delivered a healthy baby girl at Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) hospitals here.

Nine-month-pregnant Maddikatla Sunitha, who slipped into a brain dead condition after the accident, delivered the baby on Tuesday.

After the incident, Sunitha was rushed to KIMS Hospitals, Secunderabad, where she was declared brain dead.

Later, her husband and relatives donated her organs as part of the State-run Jeevandan organ donation initiative.

The surgeons at the hospital retrieved the donor liver and two kidneys for needy patients.
