Independence Day 2024: PM Modi hoists Tricolour at the Red Fort for 11th consecutive time

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hoisted the National Flag at the historic Red Fort for the 11th consecutive time marking the 78th Independence Day celebrations.
 
In his customary address to the nation, Modi said that if 40 crore people could unite and come together to free the nation from British rule then 140 crore people can certainly make India a developed nation with their collective and unwavering dedication.
 
"Today, if our 140 crore people resolve and move together in one direction, then we can become 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047 by overcoming all obstacles," Modi said.
 
The Prime Minister extended greetings to the citizens on the Independence Day and remembered the sacrifices made by the freedom fighters.
 
"Today, we honour the brave freedom fighters who fought for our nation's freedom. Our country remains forever indebted to their sacrifice and service," he said.
 
He also highlighted the successful rollout of central schemes such as Har Ghar Jal Se Nal which has benefitted cores of people across various parts of the country.
 
The Prime Minister said the 'Vocal for Local' slogan given by the government has become the new 'mantra' for the economy and people are taking pride in 'One District One Product'.
 
Highlighting the success in renewable energy sector, PM Modi said that India has done much more than what the G20 countries have done in the field and the country is progressing towards becoming self-reliant in the energy sector.
 
Modi also underlined the success in the fintech sector and said that the world is keen to learn from India's experience.
 
The Prime Minister said that his government has implemented reforms on the ground and it remains committed to it.
 
"Our commitment to reform is not for four days of applause. Our reform process is not under any compulsion. Our reforms are intended to strengthen the country," Modi said.
