J&K Police rewards 5 border residents for foiling cross-LoC narco smuggle bid in Rajouri

Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday rewarded five border residents of Nowshera sector in Rajouri district, who had set a trademark of bravery and patriotic spirit by foiling a major cross-LoC narco smuggling bid, which led to recovery of massive consignment in April of running calendar year.
 
Police in an official statement informed that Jammu and Kashmir Police Headquarters has sanctioned reward money valuing four lakhs in favour of five border residents for their heroic display of brave and patriotic act.
 
The narco smuggling bid was foiled in Village Makdi, which is one of the villages located ahead of Anti-Infiltration Obstacle System (AIOS), referred to as LoC fence.
 
Notably, a contraband heroin weighing as much as 8.5 Kg initially with subsequent recovery of 1.44 Kg, making as much as 9.94 Kg has been recovered by J&K Police in the instant case in Nowshera belt of District Rajouri.
 
Alongside recoveries of narcotics, a major cross border smuggling racket has also been busted following the swift sharing of intelligence by felicitating these border residents.
 
"As much as four smugglers have been arrested and interrogated so far, with continued efforts to unearth other linkages- transnational as well as those operating from own side of LoC," read the handout.
 
It further said that J&K Police has once again reiterated its firm resolve to carry forward its fight against transnational crimes especially narco, terror and narco-terror crimes by seeking and motivating general public’s active participation in noble cause.
