Chennai:Actor-politician Kamal Haasan turns 65 today and the Makkal Needhi Maiam chief will unveil the statue of his father D Srinivasan at his native Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram district to mark the occasion.
Party sources said some important announcements were expected at the event.
Meanwhile, a series of programmes has been organised by hisproduction house Raajkamal Films International as part of the birthday celebrations, which would also coincide with the Viswaroopam star completing six decades in cinema.
On November eight, Kamal will unveil the statue of his guru in cinema, mentor, writer and director K Balachandar at the new office premises of Raajkamal Films International in thecity.
The event will be attended by Balachandar's family and celebrities from Kollywood.In commemoration of 150 years of Mahatma Gandhi, a special screening of Kamal's popular movie Hey Ram--An experiment with truth has been planned at Satyam Cinemas in the city.
A grand musical tribute 'Ungalil Naan"60 glorious years' I am in You) will be held in which music maestro Ilayaraja and Kamal's best friend and Superstar Rajinikanth will attend.(UNI)
