Bengaluru: Karnataka's Koppal district on Monday experienced a moment of tension after a 'Free Palestine' poster was displayed in the Killa area during Eid-e-Milad celebrations.

The police acted swiftly, removing the poster to maintain peace, officials confirmed.

Muslims across Karnataka marked the Eid-e-Milad festival with great enthusiasm, with processions being held in many towns and cities. However, in light of recent communal violence during the Ganesh Visarjan procession in Nagamangala in Mandya district, authorities are exercising caution to avoid further unrest.

As part of the state-wide Eid-e-Milad festivities, major mosques, including Bengaluru's Jamia Masjid and Bilal Mosque, were adorned in preparation for the large crowds. Fasting, prayer, and the distribution of sweets were key parts of the celebrations.

To ensure public safety, the Karnataka Police have taken extensive security measures, particularly in sensitive areas. Following the events in Nagamangala, where stone-pelting and rioting marred the Ganesh Visarjan procession, authorities are not taking any chances.

Additional police forces have been stationed across major roads and near mosques, particularly in areas known for previous communal tensions.
