Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has pressed into service men and machinery to clear the snow from Sonamarg-Kargil-Leh road which was already closed due to accumulation of snowfall, police added.
They said the electricity which was disrupted since Wednesday due to snowfall is likely to be restored in the area by Thursday evening.
The authorities have also advised people living at avalanche prone areas to remain indoors and avoid unnecessary movement till further directions.
Reports of another light avalanche occurred at Hang area in the district without causing any damage to life or property.
The Meteorological Department has predicted a forecast of fairly widespread light rain, snow over Jammu and Kashmir during the next 24 hours and mainly dry weather from January 14. (UNI)
