Kendrapara (Odisha): In a bizarre incident, a teacher was arrested on Wednesday and sent to judicial custody for outraging the modesty of a Class five girl student.
The arrested primary school teacher has been identified as Pramod Kumar Rath (50) of Kuanrur village who was teaching students after the school hours privately.
On July 9 at about 6 pm , the errant teacher asked the students, except the victim girl student, to return to their houses.
Later, he took the minor girl student to the class room and forcibly outraged her modesty, even making an attempt to abuse sexually.
The victim girl shouted, managed to escape from the place and informed the incident.
The victim’s mother on Tuesday lodged an FIR at Derabish police station and acting on the FIR, Derabish police registered a case, managed to arrest the errant teacher.
The arrested teacher was booked under section 74,75 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and section 10 of POCSO Act and produced before the local court which remanded him to judicial custody.
