6 arrested in Seelampur stone pelting case in East Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested six people in connection with the incidents of violence and arson that happened at Seelampur area during the protest against  the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on Tuesday.
According to police , the six people who have been arrested so far are locals and the police is trying to look out and identify more who were involved in violent activities.The police said that CCTV footage and other evidences are being scanned to zero down on more anti social elements who were involved in inciting violence.

Meanwhile, section 144 has been invoked in the North East district and the police also undertook a flag march.Police has appealed to the public to maintain harmony and not lend credence to rumours that are being spread.

A total of three cases have also been registered in connection with what happened on Tuesday at the Dayalpur , Jaffrabad and the Seelampur police stations while further investigation is underway in the matter.
 
At least 20 persons were injured on Tuesday after protests turned violent, here that included about 12 Delhi Police personnel and three of the rederved police.The agitators were seen pelting stones at police personnel and public property was vandalised.The situation became so tense that more than 2,000 security personnel were rushed to the area while nearby metro stations were also closed.The situation is now said to be under control, but, the police is maintaining tight vigil in and around the area.(UNI)
