Bulandshahr (UP): Ten people were killed and 27 others were injured when a pickup van collided with a bus in Salempur area of Bulandshahr district here in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that the incident took place on Bulandshahr-Shikarpur road when the pickup van collided head on with the private bus. "While five persons died on the spot, five others succumbed to their injuries in the hospital," they said.
Police sources said that all the victims were residents of Raipur Khas village in Atruali tehsil in Aligarg district. "The victims were coming from Ghaziabad to their native place to celebrate Rakshabandhan," they said.
Police sources said that all the injured have been admitted to the district hospital.
District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shlok Kumar visited the district hospital and inquired about the condition of the injured. They directed the doctors to ensure proper treatment of the injured.
The DM said that 37 people were travelling in the van out of which 10 died in the incident. He said that 27 people were admitted to the district hospital from where 4 have been referred to Meerut.
