WPI Inflation for January at 2.76% against 3.8 % in Dec

New Delhi: The annual rate of inflation, based on monthly Wholesale Price Index, stood at 2.76 percent for January 2019 over the same month last year as compared to 3.80 percent for the previous month.The WPI for 'All Commodities' for January 2019 declined by 0.7 percent for the previous month.
The index for primary articles declined by 0.1 percent for the previous month. The index for 'Food Articles' group rose by 0.1 percent while for 'Non-Food Articles' group, it rose by 0.8 percent for the previous month, according to data released by the government on Thursday.
 
The index for 'Minerals' group rose by 7.8 percent while for  'Crude Petroleum & Natural Gas' group, it declined by 9.2 percent.The index for Fuel and power group declined by 4.1 percent and for 'Mineral Oils' group by 6.7 percent for the previous month. 
 
The index for 'Electricity' group declined by 1.5 percent and for manufactured products by 
 0.3 percent.The index for 'Manufacture of Textiles' group declined by 0.3 percent while for 'Manufacture of Wearing Apparel' group, it rose by 1.3 percent for the previous month.
 
The index for 'Manufacture of Pharmaceuticals, Medicinal Chemical and Botanical Products' group rose by 1.1 percent while for 'Manufacture of Computer, Electronic and Optical Products' group declined by 0.4 pecent. The index for 'Manufacture of Motor Vehicles, Trailers and Semi-Trailers' group rose by 0.2 percent. 
 
The rate of inflation based on WPI Food Index consisting of 'Food Articles' from Primary Articles group and 'Food Product' from Manufactured Products group increased from 0.07 per cent in December, 2018 to 1.84 percent in January, 2019.(UNI)
