New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been elected as the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), for the third consecutive term, sources said here on Sunday.

The decision was made during the National Executive meeting of the party convened on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Pankaj Gupta was also re-elected to the post of AAP's national secretary. This is Gupta's third term as an office-bearer as well.

Sources said that the latest amendment made in the party's constitution has paved the way for both the politicians to get elected for the third time to the respective posts in a row.

In January this year, the party’s constitution was amended to allow for the same person to hold posts more than twice.

The amendment has further increased the duration of an office bearer's term from 3 to 5 years while it has also lifted a bar on the number of terms a person can hold the office. (UNI)
