Phagwara: In a shocking incident a 13 years-old minor girl was allegedly raped repeatedly by an elderly villager in Balalon village near Phagwara.
Phagwara SP Rupinder Kaur Bhatti said police have registered a case under section 376(3), 506 IPC and 6 Protection of Children from sexual offences Act against the accused identified as Harmesh Lal of the same village. The accused was still at large.
The victim girl has been admitted in Civil Hospital here on Sunday.
Emergency Medical Doctor Naresh Kundra said medical examination of the victim girl
was conducted by Lady Doctor in the hospital and swabs were sent to Forensic Lab Mohali for examination.
Several villagers including family members of the victim besides Phagwara MLA Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal AAP Leader Joginder Singh Maan and several villagers rushed to the hospital to console the victim family.
Sources said the victim girl was studying in Class V in Government Primary School in the village and often visited the house of the accused along with her elder sister, a domestic help.
