Russian tourist mugged at Punjab railway station, loose over Rs 3 lakh cash

Phagwara (Punjab): A Russian woman was looted by unknown people in Punjab's Phagwara Railway Station. She lost over Rs 3 lakh in cash besides mobile phone and other valuables.
A video of the crime committed Wednesday went viral on social media.
 
NGO worker Jaswinder Singh, who has been accompanying the victim over the last few days, said he being a guide for foreign tourists has been by her side since their trip to Rishikesh.
They were headed to Jalandhar after meditation and spiritual meetings, when unknown miscreants snatched her purse, which contained cash worth Rs 3 Lakh, one mobile phone and other documents including passport.
 
Government Railway Police (GRP) Incharge Paramjit Kumar said no FIR has been lodged as no complaint has been received so far. but he said they were aware of the incident.
The victim went to Kapurthala to meet higher authorities though.
 
DSP Jaspreet Singh who visited Phagwara Railway Station and met the GRP Incharge said the victim was not interested in legal action.
