In a bizarre incident, a 35-year-old Chhattisgarh man choked to death after he reportedly swallowed a live chick. The villagers suspected it to be an act driven by occult practices to fulfil his wish to become a father.

The incident was reported from Chhindkalo village near Ambikapur of Surguja district.

The man, identified as Anand Yadav was brought to the Medical College Hospital in Ambikapur after he collapsed at home. According to his family members, he felt dizzy and fainted after returning from a bath.

Doctors were stunned to found a chick, approximately 20 cm in length, still alive inside the victim's throat during the post-mortem examination.

Dr Santu Bag, who conducted the post-mortem, revealed that the chick was stuck in such a manner that it obstructed both the airway and the food passage, likely causing asphyxiation.

"This is the first time I have encountered such a case in my career, having conducted over 15,000 post-mortems. The findings shocked us all," Bag said.

According to the media reports, locals claimed that when Yadav and his wife could not became parents after 5 years of marriage, he turned to local occultists. Police suspect that the occult must have suggested he swallow the live chick.

Local police have been informed about the incident, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the tragedy.
