Influencer receives death threats for performing Yoga inside Golden Temple, issues apology; SGPC to take action

Amritsar: Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) has objected to an act of practicing yoga in Golden Temple by an influencer.

After video/pictures of influencer went viral on 10th International Yoga Day on Friday, SGPC President Harinder Singh Dhami formed an inquiry committee. SGPC has also suspended three of staff members Gagan Pal Singh, Harjinder Singh and Balvinder Singh.

Darbar Sahib Chief Bhagat Singh said that the lady in question has hurt the sentiments of Sikhs as she has used the temple premises for publicity. He said that the influencer has apologized.

The woman is identified as Archana Makwana and she has shared a post on Instagram with the caption, "Please accept sincere apologies from me. I never intended to hurt religious sentiments of anyone… all religion teaches us to forgive everyone not to abuse them.. getting death threats & ultra abusive messages & phone calls since morning."
